F1’s Hass Team Parts Ways With Nakita Mazepin.

But was it justified?

Nakita Mazepin is a Russian driver that hopped in his first F1 seat for Hass in 2021. We all expected to see more of the young driver but that expectation has come to a screeching halt.

I was just surfing F1’s blog when an article came out claiming that Kevin Magnussen, a former Hass driver that got kicked off the team in 2020, was going to be racing for the 2022 season.

I was like “Hold on…What? I thought Mick Schumacher and Nakita Mazepin were going to race for has this year.”

My first thought was: Somebody died.

but then as I thought a bit longer I realized that it wasn’t likely that Mick or Nakita died. And so, I did a bit of digging.

We all know about the horrendous war between Russia and Ukraine that is rocking the world, and we know about the sanctions put into place by the U.E. against Russia, Putin, and the oligarchs.

Turn’s out Mazepin’s father, is one of those oligarchs.

Have you ever seen the UralKali logo on the car?

the sponsor on the back wing

UralKali is a sponsor of Hass since 2021 and has brought phenomenal wealth to the racing team. But all that changes as they completely remove the Russian company as a sponsor.

What does this have to do with Nakita?

The owner of UralKali is Dmitry Mazepin, who is Nakita’s father.

Due to the sanctions put on the Russians, Hass has decided to put away any Russian business, sponsorships, and from the looks of it the drivers as well.

But that begs the question: Is it Justified?

Nakita stated that there was no warning or conversation before Hass pulled the plug on what would have seemed like a shaky relationship if it wasn’t for his father being the main sponsor. They just up and told him that his contract was terminated along with his father's sponsoring.

He also claims that he should not be held accountable for the “disgusting” act of violence against Ukraine.

Even the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi, Russia, has been canceled until further notice. Which sucks.

Hass’s filler, Kevin Magnussen was kicked off the team in 2020 due to fights on track between him and Romain Grosjean, and the fact that (not to be mean) he sucked.

But you can’t expect much from a low-field car.

And after his termination, he climbed into an IndyCar and hit the tracks, desperate to keep up his adrenaline high.

I’m not hatin’ on ol’ Maggsy, he was just not at his true potential in 2018, 2019, and 2020.

Hence, his termination.

But the reason for this article is not to trash talk, Magnussen. The reason for this article is to see what you think.

Do you think Hass was a little cruel for giving Nakita the boot? Or was it Justified?
